Course Description
In this course students learn how to use Office Productivity Applications. The Microsoft Office Suite is the primary software application used in this course. In the Office Productivity Unit students will learn to create and edit documents using word processing, spreadsheet, database, multimedia presentation, and desktop publishing software.
Word ProcessingMicrosoft Word is used to teach students how to create and properly format research papers using MLA Format with citations. Students will format a Table of Contents. Students will also learn to properly format an agenda and minutes taken in a business meeting.

SpreadsheetsMicrosoft Excel is used to teach students how to create and format spreadsheets using basic formulas and charting (pie, bar and line).

Desktop Publishing Unit
Microsoft Publisher is used in this unit to teach students how to create business cards, flyers, brochures, newsletters, and letterhead. Emphasis is placed on design principles such as alignment, contrast, proximity/unity, white space, repetition/consistency, and balance. Students will learn to design publications to meet various characteristics of the target audience.
